Cabinet handle size is a specification decision: drawer width, door height, centre-to-centre size, overall length, projection, fixing position, finish and usage all affect whether the hardware feels right once fitted.

Match the front

Centre-to-centre

The distance between fixing holes. This is the critical measurement for drilling, replacement and custom-centre work.

Overall length

The full end-to-end size of the handle. This affects visual proportion, grip and how the hardware reads on the cabinet face.

Projection

The distance the hardware stands proud from the cabinet. This affects finger clearance, appliance fronts, corners and tight joinery runs.

What size cabinet handle should I choose?

Choose cabinet handle size by the size of the drawer or door, the weight of use and the visual balance of the cabinetry. Small fronts can use knobs, T-bars or short pulls; wide drawers, tall doors and appliance fronts usually need longer pulls.

What is the difference between centre-to-centre and overall length?

Centre-to-centre is the distance between the fixing holes. Overall length is the full end-to-end length of the handle. Centre-to-centre matters for drilling and replacement; overall length matters for visual proportion and grip.

Where should handles be placed on drawers?
