Application guide

The tall-door leverage rule

For tall units, larder doors, pantry banks and integrated appliance panels, the handle is not only a decorative choice. It controls grip, scale, drilling centres, vertical alignment and future re-ordering. Choose the pull family, lock the centres, set one datum, then approve the finish physically before made-to-order production.

Specifier method

Specify the appliance bank before choosing the final pull

Integrated appliances and full-height cabinetry create more risk than ordinary drawer hardware. The safest route is to set a repeatable rule for length, centre-to-centre, placement and finish, then check drawings before release.

1

Choose the pull family

Use a longer cabinet pull route for tall doors and appliance panels. Short pulls or knobs can look under-scaled on full-height cabinetry.

2

Lock the centres

Centre-to-centre is the drilling dimension. Keep it consistent across the bank where possible, especially for phased or repeat work.

3

Check clearances

Confirm projection, adjacent doors, appliance panels, fillers and door thickness before drilling or production release.

Decision table

Tall unit and appliance pull specification checks

Use this table as the working checklist before product sign-off. Projection and fixing details should be checked on the PDP or product tear sheet before order release.

Long-pull routes for tall units and appliance banks

These products are the main routes to review for tall-unit and appliance-bank specification. Key centre-to-centre and overall length data is shown directly on the page so the guide is useful before opening a PDF.

Brunswick Cabinet Handle in aged brass for tall unit and appliance bank hardware

Brunswick Cabinet Handle

170–690mm overall · 158–675mm centres · long round pull route.

Strong route for appliance banks, contemporary classic kitchens and full-height cabinetry where a long pull family is needed.

Harrington Handle in aged brass for tall units and integrated appliance banks

Harrington Handle

170–690mm overall · 106–616mm centres · long round pull route.

Useful for tall units, appliance walls and repeated cabinet banks where a longer handle needs to sit calmly across the elevation.

Manresa Cabinet Handle in aged brass for appliance pull and tall unit specification

Manresa Cabinet Handle

170–690mm overall · 98–600mm centres · long round pull route.

Good for tall cabinetry and appliance-bank scale where a softer rounded profile is preferred.

Egerton Handle P2 flat pull in aged brass for integrated appliance panels

Egerton Handle - P2

116–628mm overall · 92–604mm centres · flat architectural route.

Flat-profile route for modern appliance banks, Art Deco lines and integrated panels requiring a cleaner bar form.

Burlington Cabinet Handle in aged brass for tall unit and appliance wall hardware

Burlington Cabinet Handle

Up to 622mm overall · includes 604mm centres · flat pull route.

Useful where a more linear, Deco-influenced handle is required on taller cabinetry or appliance banks.

Maddox Cabinet Handle in aged brass for long pull centre consistency

Maddox Cabinet Handle

170–690mm overall · 84–562mm centres · includes 322mm centres at 450mm overall.

Long-pull route for cabinetry banks where centre consistency and a restrained round form matter.

Also review Pembridge Cabinet Handle, Melbury Cabinet Handle, Westbourne Cabinet Pull and Beaufort Cabinet Handle where the design direction needs a coordinated supporting handle.

Before order release

When to send project details

Send drawings, elevations or project notes when the appliance bank includes integrated fridge/freezer panels, several tall doors, custom centres, existing holes, unusual panel thickness, phased orders or a multi-room hardware schedule.

  • Door and drawer counts
  • Proposed products, lengths and centres
  • Panel thickness and appliance locations
  • Finish direction and sign-off requirement
  • Any existing schedule or replacement constraint
Finish control

Approve the finish physically

Appliance walls and tall-unit banks make finish differences highly visible. Use physical sample routes before made-to-order production, especially where the hardware sits beside stone, timber, paint, taps or appliances.

Specification control

Use a Hardware Schedule when the bank affects more than one room

For whole-home, kitchen-plus-utility or project-led work, the safest route is one controlled schedule showing product, size, centres, finish, quantity, room and approval status.

Risk What can go wrong Control route
Mixed centres Drilling varies across the appliance bank and later re-ordering becomes harder. Start a Hardware Schedule
Finish chosen from screen only The handle finish may read differently beside cabinetry, stone, timber or appliances. Order Finish Sign-Off Sample
Panel thickness unknown Fixing assumptions may be wrong or incomplete at the point of order. Send Project Details
Projection not checked Handles may conflict with fillers, adjacent doors or appliance-bank clearances. Project & Drawing Review
Common questions

Appliance pull and tall unit FAQs

What is an appliance pull?

An appliance pull is a longer cabinet pull used on integrated appliance panels, fridge/freezer housings, larders, appliance banks and tall units. It is chosen for leverage, scale and repeatability on larger cabinet faces.

What size pull should I use on a tall unit?

Use a longer pull than you would use on a small drawer or base-cabinet door. The right size depends on door height, cabinet style, centre-to-centre requirement, projection, appliance clearance and the rest of the hardware schedule.

Should every pull in an appliance bank be the same length?

Usually yes, where the doors and panels allow it. A repeated pull length and centre rule creates a calmer appliance wall. Vary the handle only where door size, function or a technical constraint requires it.

Can I use knobs on tall units?

Knobs can work on smaller internal doors, but full-height larder doors and appliance panels usually suit longer pulls. Longer pulls provide stronger leverage and better visual scale on large vertical surfaces.

What should be checked before drilling?

Check centre-to-centre dimensions, overall length, projection, door thickness, appliance clearances, filler positions and vertical alignment. For project work, confirm these before production and before drilling.

When should I start a Hardware Schedule?

Start a Hardware Schedule when the project includes multiple rooms, several hardware sizes, appliance pulls, custom centres, finish approvals, repeat orders or several approving parties.

Choose the pull family, then confirm the finish and centres

Start with Hardware Finder if you are still choosing the product route. Use finish sign-off when the design direction is close. Send project details when the appliance bank involves drawings, panel thickness, custom centres or schedule control.
