Protected interiors
Kitchens, wardrobes and fitted furniture can prioritise material character where the joinery remains within a suitably protected interior.

Resilience
The sea is a beautiful neighbour. It is not always kind to what surrounds it.
Explore the hardware
A protected coastal interior and joinery close to salt-laden air may share the same architecture without sharing the same material requirement. Heritage serves character-led protected interiors. Performance Metals gives the specification another route where environment asks more of the material.
The environment decides
Sea air, humidity, open-plan living and joinery close to terraces or marinas can create different material demands within one project.
01
Kitchens, wardrobes and fitted furniture can prioritise material character where the joinery remains within a suitably protected interior.
02
Bathrooms, wellness rooms and higher-humidity interiors can place corrosion behaviour and cleaning conditions higher in the specification.
03
Joinery closer to terraces, marinas or salt-laden air should be reviewed against its actual position rather than the project postcode alone.

Materials & performance
The material should follow the service condition, not simply the word “coastal”. A beautiful material should have more than its appearance to recommend it.
For moisture, salt-laden air and high-humidity conditions, Marine-Grade 316L is the first route to review. Naval Brass preserves a warmer metal character; Nickel-Coated Naval Brass gives a cooler nickel direction over a marine-grade substrate; Grade 5 Titanium adds a specialist low-mass, high-strength route where the material itself is part of the design intent.
01
For protected residential joinery where finish character, patina and the visual language of the room remain the primary considerations.
02
Material routes to review where moisture, coastal air and environmental stability have a greater role in the specification.
03
For projects where low mass, strength-to-weight, repeated handling or an engineered surface adds a specific reason for the material choice.
Direct exterior or weather-exposed use is not assumed suitable. Final material suitability remains application-specific and should be reviewed against exposure, cleaning regime, fixing conditions and approved project drawings.
Selected Performance Metals
This is not a decorative sampler. Each full-product example represents a different coastal material decision: stronger corrosion resistance, warm marine-grade metal character, a cooler nickel appearance over a naval-brass substrate, or a low-mass specialist material.
Moisture · Salt-laden air · High humidity
Marine-Grade Stainless Steel 316L
A clearer long-pull expression of the Beaufort collection for contemporary coastal cabinetry. Review 316L first where prolonged moisture, humidity or salt-laden air materially affects the brief.
Warm marine-grade metal
Marine-Grade Naval Brass
A clearer full-handle expression of Naval Brass for coastal interiors that want warmth and material character while making the alloy itself part of the environmental specification.
Cooler architectural direction
Nickel-Coated Naval Brass · Satin Nickel
For projects that require a cooler nickel appearance while retaining a naval-brass substrate selected for improved environmental stability in demanding interiors.
Low mass · High strength · Material-led specification
Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V)
A full pull-handle expression of the titanium route for exceptional coastal or yacht-adjacent interiors where low mass, high strength and inherent corrosion resistance are intentional parts of the brief.
These examples demonstrate four different material routes, not a blanket hierarchy. For moisture, salt air and high-humidity exposure, 316L is the first route to review; Naval Brass and Nickel-Coated Naval Brass provide warm or cooler solid-metal alternatives with improved environmental stability; Titanium is reserved for specifications where low mass, strength and material performance are themselves design requirements. Final suitability remains project-specific.
